Soaking Up the Sun

Last fall we decided that we wanted to take a trip to Lake Powell this Spring. The goal was to get in some water skiing and wake boarding and soak up alot of sun. We talked the Polatis clan into going with us. It was such a blast. The kids loved playing in the water and especially on the swim deck of the boat. We camped close to the lake. We spent 4 days on the water and 1 day hiking and relaxing around camp. We have so much fun with Casey and Erin and their family. Casey makes us all laugh so hard. Each night after dinner while Erin and I cleaned up the boys would line all of the kids up and play what they called the "Ricky Casey Game". This started out as following simple patterns and copying funny moves. By the end the trip they were the "ooga fathers" and sent the children out to hunt and bring back things to camp such as ax tailed taradactails. The kids thought this was the greatest. These two are such great dads and always keep things exciting. We had a ton of fun on the water. We ran into a few "mishaps (like running out of gas)" but we were blessed by the nice people down there and they came to our rescue.

On Sunday we held a little church service and then went for a hike to explore the canyons around camp. The kids thought this was great and the canyon walls were amazing. The landscape down there is so beautiful. The kids had a great time looking for lizards and trying to catch them. The Sunday hiking trip is where the "ooga fathers" were born. Sunday afternoon Erin had brought some activities for the girls to do. She brought beads for the girls to make necklaces. Casey made Rick a "Casey + Ricky forever best friends necklace". This triggered a necklace making session. Casey and Rick made Erin and I a fishing lure necklace. They are so beautiful don't ya think?

We all had so much fun and loved the 85 degree weather. The night before we left Harlee told me that in the morning her heart was going to break into pieces because we had to leave. The drive home was a long one and took 12 hours to get home. We blew out a tire on the boat trailer and had to stop in Price and buy a new tire. The whole way home Trayton insisted that I hold a book to his feet so he could "board". He had the whole show going on. Dad was the boat driver, Harlee was the flagger, and he did wicked tricks. He even had to switch books to try out different boards and apparently Casey's board is "no good". We had a blast and can't wait to hit the water here. If the sun would decide to shine that is....
